Alban Low’s fridge magnet art roadshow hit Brighton on Saturday. 530 mini-artworks by 239 artists (including three by me) were placed on lampposts around the town – and were swiftly picked up by discerning members of the public.
There’s a short write up about the Nottingham fridge magnet event in The Independent.
And you can hear Alban talking about the genesis of his fridge magnet art project and plugging the forthcoming Brighton exhibition, on iPlayer (28 mins in).
Nottingham is the latest city to be colonised by Alban Low’s ever-growing fridge magnet art empire. As part of yesterday’s Light Night 2011 event, over two hundred city street lights have been adorned with miniature magnetic artworks, created by a diverse range of artistes. Denizens of and visitors to Nottingham can admire these creations in context and, if they wish, take them home to put on their own fridges.
I’m one of the featured artists this time round. You can see the whole set of images here. I’m responsible for pics 209-213.
Mark E Smith as a tree
Belated acknowledgement that Paintwork, the Praxis Hagen gallery’s travelling exhibition of art related to The Fall, has landed in Hamburg.
I have four marker pen portraits of Mark E Smith in the show and judging by these photos it looks like another excellent, eccentric collection of work.
