A little el weirdo

Just over a year ago, I turned up on spec at the El Weirdo Comic Fair in Brockley, South London, with a box of House of Harley goodies for sale. The organiser, Barry Flynn aka UglyManComics, was good enough to find a space for me.

Here’s some sketches I made of attendees at this relaxed and friendly event. You may recognise a face or two from the UK independent comics scene. I took the opportunity to try out my new fountain pen, first one I’ve used since my school days. Click to see the results in more detail.

For more drawings of people going about their business, see our collections of sketches from the London Underground, Dwellers of the Deep 1 and Dwellers of the Deep 2.

Give me ten minutes a day

For years I drew my fellow London Underground travellers on my commute to work, and I found it to be a great way to observe live and learn to draw quick in less-than-ideal circumstances. In today’s world of hybrid working, I don’t commute very often, but here’s some sketches from this Friday night after a catchup with some pals.

The last few copies of Dwellers of the Deep 1, our first pocket-sized collection of London Underground sketches are still available while stocks last. And some actual House of Harley sketchbooks can be purchased on our Etsy shop.
